When To Apply
- Before Outdoor Activities: If you're planning a barbecue, garden party, or any outdoor event, apply the product beforehand to reduce the number of mosquitoes and flying insects. Make sure to let sprays settle or dry before allowing people or pets to enter treated areas.
- Peak Mosquito Activity: Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn. Applying the product during these times can help control their population.
Label Amendments
The Pest Management Regulatory Agency published final re-evaluation decisions of pyrethrin, ‘RVD2023-06, Pyrethrins and Its Associated End-use Products’ and piperonyl butoxide ‘RVD2023-07, Piperonyl Butoxide and Its Associated End-use Products’ on March 2, 2023. As a result of these decisions, label amendments were required to Ortho® Mosquito B Gon Max® Flying Insect Killer Area Sprayᵢ (Reg. No. 33749) with outdated labels expiring on March 2, 2025. The amendments are intended to protect human health and the environment and must be followed.
Key Changes:
- Maximum application rate (6.25 g per m² and can sprays at 1-2 g per second)
- Minimum 7 days for re-application if pest problem persists or reoccurs.
- Environmental Precautions section added: Toxic to aquatic organisms. Toxic to bees. However, this product is not systemic and when used according to label directions, minimal exposure or risk is expected. Toxic to beneficial arthropods (which may include predatory and parasitic insects, spiders, and mites). Minimize exposure to non-target areas.
